Clients often ask us if we offer stain protection service or “scotch-guard “ as it`s widely known .
To help you decide if this is a service that you require, we have wrote a guide to help you in your decision.
1. What is Stain protection (scotch guard)?
A stain protect is a blend of products which work together to repel liquid and stains.
2. Does it stop all stains?
Stain protection is a repellent. It will not allow a spill or anything with moisture to penetrate through its surface.
So anything which is dry will still leave a stain or wear.
2. How is it applied?
A stain protector needs to be applied to a damp carpet or upholstery fabric in order for the protector to work to its full potential . Usually it`s applied after the carpet, sofa or upholstery have been cleaned.
We`ll mix the product with a warm distilled water. Then evenly distributed over the surface. This will be undertaken twice.
3. How long does it take to dry ?
The stain protection will be dry within 4 – 6 hours depending on the fibre content and the humidity.
However, for the protector to fully work and give a long lasting protection, we suggest that the area is not walked or sat on for 24 hours.
4. How to care for my newly applied stain protection?
Allow for the time given for the protection to dry . If a stain of spillage happens, please, blot with some kitchen towel roll or a clean dry absorbent towel. This should remove the moister, allowing for the non-stain protection base to be left on the carpet or upholstery.
